CONGRESS

Held from September 3 to 5 in Brisbane, our National Congress was a grand success!

AUSTRALIAN ANNUAL CONGRESS

Conducted from the 3rd to the 5th of September, our Congress went off with a bang with look n learn presentations, networking, business seminars, our fun gala evening and more.

Firstly, Intercoiffure would like to say a big thank you to our major sponsors Hairdreams and our global sponsors Wella and L’Oreal - it could not have been such a success without you!

DAY ONE - EDUCATION DAY AND OPENING NIGHT

South African guest artists Kenny Orchison and Anel Cloete presented a Look n Learn in the morning, with a hands on workshop on mannequin heads in the afternoon. The work presented was both inspiring and practical. All attending thought it was an excellent educational session, heavily featuring commercial work that could be applied directly in the salon.

Sunday Evening marked our Opening Night. We enjoyed a cocktail event while being entertained by a jazz pianist and catching up with our friends from all over the country. Then we were treated to a futuristic presentation by our Guillaume Foundation team, using Hairdreams products. A very enjoyable and impressive evening all round

DAY TWO - CREATIVE DAY AND GALA EVENING

In the morning, attendees enjoyed the Papas and Pace presentation. It was both an entertaining and informative presentation, showcasing both hair-cuts and colours.

Next, we had the future trends forecasting bu the Australian Fashion Team led by our National Artistic Director Robert Bava. The Team discussed three core trends per season and how we will see these manifest in new styles, from creative to RTW.

Then we were wowed by Brodie Stubbins, the current QLD Hairdresser of the Year, as she spoke about her journey to where she is today. Brodie urged the young hairdresser attendees to get out there and work hard - only then can you be your best and achieve your goals as she has done.

Finally we heard from Benni Tognini and the team, showcasing some amazing work and discussing the necessity of continuing hairdressing education (like today!). This is the only way to remain fresh and on trend, to continue to deliver what the clients want.

The evening saw our blacktie Gala Dinner at Blackbird Restuarant overlooking the beautiful river and Story Bridge. As we winded and dined, our keynote speaker Jackie Pearson of Wella ANZ spoke of the strength in the ongoing relationship between Intercoiffure and Wella. With the city lights twinkling in reflections on the river, the Senior and Junior Photography Compettion results were announced.

Other notable awards given out were the Silver Jubliee for ongoing commitment to Intercoiffure to Virginia Hill and the Recognition Award to Hairdreams for being a great support and sponsor.

DAY THREE - BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND AGM

We began the day focusing on cyber security. Unfortunately, this is a growing area of concern, with cyber crime increasing ten fold in the past few years. We discussed how to ensure our systems are not vulnerable to cyber attack, particularly given we hold clients' personal information on file.

Next we enjoyed the 'Looking After the Owner' presentation by Michelle Hancock, psychologist. Michelle emphasised the importance of looking after tyour own mental health whilst running a business an discussed strategies for managing stress. She also spoke on warning signs to look for among employees that may indicate you need to offer extra assistance to look after your staff's mental health.

Following this, we enjoyed a seminar on Brand Awareness. We discussed tips on how to make our brand stand out from the rest, how to creat a strong brand message and how the consumer perceives our brand and its importance in today's economic environment.

The afternoon featured our Annual General Meeting and the official close of Congress.
